Western Australia will field a near full-strength side for their one-day clash with England at the WACA Ground on Saturday.
Pace aces Mahli Beardman and Lance Morris are the headline names in a 12-player squad for the game, which act as a warm-up game for the tourists ahead of their upcoming One-Day International series against Australia.
With front-line fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood all rested after the Test tour of South Africa, Beardman has been called into the national squad for both three ODIs and five Twenty20 Internationals.
The 21-year-old, who made his T20 debut for his country in January, is firmly in the frame to make his international 50-over bow when the series begins at Perth’s Optus Stadium next Friday.
Meanwhile, Morris is set to make his first appearance for WA in 20 months in the tour game. The 28-year-old missed the entirety of last season after opting to undergo back surgery and suffered an untimely side strain on the eve of the season.
As revealed by The West Australian last week, Morris made his competitive return after a layoff spanning more than 18 months in WA Premier Cricket at the weekend. After inclement weather denied him the chance to bowl in Scarborough’s one-day clash with Willetton on Saturday, he instead featured in their T20 fixture against the Country XI on Sunday, collecting figures of 2-14 from four overs.
Sheffield Shield captain Aaron Hardie (shoulder), veteran seamer Joel Paris and opening batsman Sam Fanning (both hamstring) remain sidelined by injuries.
WA squad for one-day game against England: Ashton Turner (captain), Ashton Agar, Cam Bancroft, Mahli Beardman, Brody Couch, Joel Curtis, Jayden Goodwin, Will Malajczuk, Lance Morris, Jordan Quiggin, Corey Wasley, Sam Whiteman.
