Fremantle veteran Corey Wagner has signed a two-year contract extension, which will tie him to the club until at least the end of 2028.

The 29-year-old’s new deal was one of two announced by the Dockers on Tuesday, with young forward Charlie Nicholls signing on until the end of next season.

Wagner has played 50 games across four seasons since joining the club in 2023, including 12 games this season before being dropped for the Geelong clash in a selection squeeze for the ladder-leaders.

Dockers list boss David Walls said Wagner had found a home at Fremantle, his third AFL club after stints at Melbourne (11 games) and North Melbourne (eight games)

“Ever since joining Freo, Wags has just wanted to do absolutely anything needed of him for the team’s betterment,” Walls said.

“He’s a really selfless player and has the capacity to have his magnet thrown around and fill a need, which is a really strong trait to have.

“Wags and Michaela have really settled into their Freo life since moving west, got married, started a family, and are about to add another to their numbers, and clearly really feels like he’s part of the Freo family.

“He’s had some great moments while at the Club and made great connections within the side that go well beyond the four walls.”

Nicholls, taken with pick No.34 in the 2024 draft, is yet to play a senior game for the club as he continues to develop his craft at WAFL level.

Walls said securing Nicholls’ contract was a great result for the club.

“Charlie has come on in leaps and bounds this season and has shown great development as a key forward down at Peel,” Walls said.

“After having a delayed start to his career at Freo in 2025 with a back injury, he’s now playing some really consistent footy.

“He’s kicked 19 goals in 10 games this season, has put on some good size, and with another season under his belt developing under the likes of Jye Amiss, Josh Treacy and Pat Voss, we have great hopes for the 20-year-old.

“We’re confident he will continue to build and we’re delighted to have him sign on for another season.”
