Kyle Snyder: US Olympic gold medallist arrested in Columbus prostitution sting
One of the greatest amateur wrestlers in history, boasting an Olympic gold medal, has been arrested for engaging in prostitution during a police sting in the US.
Kyle Snyder, a poster boy for the US Olympic movement and a former Donald Trump administration adviser, was arrested after arriving at a hotel to allegedly engage in sex with a prostitute he believed had placed an advertisement online.
The former NCAA champion was reportedly arrested in an elaborate police prostitution sting, after he allegedly responded to the fake internet ad created by law enforcement to catch would-be ‘Johns’ attempting to pay for sex.
The Daily Mail is reporting that 29-year-old Snyder, allegedly responded to the ad and arrived at the hotel 30 minutes later, before offering to pay an undercover police officer for sex.
He was then arrested for engaging in prostitution by uniformed officers inside the hotel room according to police reports.
Columbus Police Sargent Joe Albert explained that Snyder was among 16 men arrested as part of the sting and he is due back in court on May 19.
After winning gold as a heavyweight during the 2016 Rio Games, Snyder was appointed to President Donald Trump’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition in 2018. He went on to win silver at the COVID-delayed 2020 Tokyo Games in the summer of 2021.
A self-described Christian, Snyder is married to a former Syracuse soccer player, Maddie Pack and recently signed on to be one of the faces of the Hulk Hogan-run Real American Freestyle Wrestling League.
Hogan recently said Snyder “represents the best of the best, and that’s who we’re targeting for Real American Freestyle.”
A highly successful college wrestler, Snyder won three national championships at Ohio State and has been inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame.
In 2016, he made history by becoming the youngest ever wrestler to secure a “triple crown” - winning the world, NCAA and Olympic titles.
