Peel Thunder had the services of 12 Fremantle-listed players in the seniors against East Perth to go with two more in the reserves. Here’s how they fared.

League

Connor Blakely: Got better as the game went on in a star-studded midfield, finishing with 34 disposals and 11 marks.

Mitch Crowden: Was a solid contributor without starring. His performance was overshadowed by fellow mids Darcy Tucker, Connor Blakely and Neil Erasmus.

Neil Erasmus: The top-10 pick enjoyed one of his best games in the WAFL with 32 possessions and a goal in the engine room. Growing in confidence after an injury-interrupted middle part of the season.

The Game AFL 2024

Joel Hamling: Had his moments in a good contest against in-form Royals forward Nick Bonomelli who booted two goals.

Ethan Hughes: Wasn’t among the best in his relatively new role on the wing.

Matthew Johnson: Looks ready for an AFL debut. Building nicely after a long-term foot injury. Was a class above with his ball use in the midfield and moves really well.

Lloyd Meek: Had an intriguing ruck battle against former Docker Scott Jones. Didn’t do as much around the ground as usual but helped his team win the clearance battle.

Nathan O’Driscoll: Broke lines with his speed and used the ball pretty well in the wet.

Sam Sturt: The forgotten former first-round pick was the premier forward in the contest with four majors. Played the tough conditions really well and was the main man in attack in Josh Treacy’s absence.

Darcy Tucker: Best on ground for the second week in a row. Had 38 possessions and three goals in a mid/forward role. Can’t do much more to put his hand up for an AFL recall.

Joel Western: Kicked two goals, including an eye-catching effort on the run in the second term, in an exciting performance up forward. His pace caused headaches for the opposition defence. Getting better by the week after long-term injury.

Nathan Wilson: Rebounded well from defence and had some big moments.

Reserves

Eric ‘Roy’ Benning: Did some good things in the ruck in a losing cause.

Karl Worner: Was among Peel’s best with a game-high 30 possessions and 14 marks to push his case for a recall to the seniors.
