Perth’s lengthy search for an import guard is over, with former NBA journeyman Brandon Knight locked in to join the Wildcats just days out from the start of the NBL season.

Knight will bolster the Cats’ backcourt and brings considerable experience to John Rillie’s roster.

The 34-year-old had stints for seven NBA teams across more than a decade in the world’s top competition, most notably at Phoenix, where he averaged a career-high 19.6 points per game in the 2015-16 season.

Knight has most recently been at Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico’s top league, having last featured in the NBA for Dallas in 2022.

Perth’s season begins on Saturday night with a clash against South East Melbourne at RAC Arena, though it is unlikely Knight would be in a position to line up in that game.

The Wildcats host Adelaide the following Thursday in a clash that will mark the return of five-time Perth championship coach turned Adelaide mentor Trevor Gleeson, as well as Bryce Cotton.
