Just one day after Canterbury star Adam Elliott was slapped with a hefty fine for his Gold Coast toilet tryst, the Bulldogs have confirmed another player is in hot water — this time for stealing.

In a statement, Canterbury has confirmed Lachlan Lewis has been stood down pending an investigation.

It is alleged Lewis, the nephew of NRL great Wally Lewis and cousin of Home and Away actor Lincoln Lewis, placed a soundbar provided by the NRL up for sale on eBay.

Nine News reporter Danny Weidler said there was CCTV showing a hooded person taking the speaker from the Queensland hotel.

The NRL had supplied clubs with a number of entertainment items while they were holed up in a Queensland hub.

The NRL’s integrity unit is now investigating whether the alleged actions are a practical joke gone wrong.

“The club are currently working with the NRL integrity unit regarding the matter.

“As a result, the Bulldogs have stood Lewis down until that process has been completed.”

Lewis is on an estimated $450,000 deal with the Bulldogs that ends this year.

The whole ordeal comes just days after Lewis’ teammate Elliott was slapped with a $10,000 fine after he and NRLW player Millie Boyle were kicked out of a Queensland venue after they were caught together in a toilet.

Elliott, who will not play again this season as part of his penalty, has a history of poor decision making when drinking.

Earlier this year he issued a grovelling apology to his former teammate Michael Lichaa after he was caught in a compromising position with Lichaa’s fiance.

Elliott also ended up in court after his Mad Monday antics in 2018 ended up splashed on the front page.

The naked Elliott’s actions cost the Bulldogs a $250,000 fine from the NRL.
