West Coast Eagles coach Andrew McQualter confident Elliot Yeo and Milan Murdock will face Fremantle Dockers

Elliot Yeo and Milan Murdock are set to return for West Coast in the western derby with Eagles coach Andrew McQualter declaring they only need to get through training this week to be named.
It comes at a vital time for the club with the Eagles’ second-best contested ball-winner behind young gun Harley Reid, Deven Robertson, ruled out for the remainder of the season with a ruptured ACL after copping a knee-on-knee blow against Geelong.
Yeo hasn’t played since round three after a minor aggravation of his groin, an injury that previously cost him a full season of footy, while Murdock hasn’t featured since kicking two goals amid a whirlwind start to AFL life in the drought-breaking victory over North Melbourne.
The Eagles were belted around the ball when the trio all missed an Optus Stadium clash against the table-topping Swans, beaten by 128 points.
And while they were beaten in clearances by the Cats again on Sunday, the margin was much narrower as the Eagles kept the final margin under 50 points.
McQualter will be hopeful the return of Yeo and Murdock can help offset the loss of Robertson, who only joined the club in the off-season via the pre-season supplemental selection period from reigning premiers Brisbane.
“We’re confident that Yeo will be right this week, which is great,” McQualter told 7NEWS.
“He got through a really good training session on Friday, so as long as he gets through training this week, he’ll be ready to go.
“Same story with Milan, he did a great session on Friday, he’s got a couple of sessions to tick off this week, and he’ll be in line for a return as well.
McQualter also added he was devastated for Robertson, who has impressed in his first four games in blue and gold, but was adamant it was an “opportunity” for the next man up.
“It really is sad for Deven and our footy club. I’m gutted for him,” he said.
“He’s had a pretty tough journey, and he’s started so well at our football club.
“We’re going to miss him really dearly through our midfield; he’s been a really important piece. Along with Noah Long, it’s unfortunate, but these two guys will miss the rest of the season.
“Dev’s been around footy for a long time. He’ll be flat, he’ll be disappointed, but he’s a pro, and he’ll work really hard to get himself back.
“It is what it is, it’s a brutal game, we play a contact sport, and there are always injuries. You never wish it on anyone, but it is what it is. What it will do is provide some opportunity for someone else.”
