Four Western Force academy members have been selected for the junior Wallabies for their opening game of the under-20 Oceania Championship against Argentina on Friday.

Back-rower Ned Slack-Smith has been named captain and he will star with second-rower Luke Callan in the starting side with Siosifa Amone and Connor Seve in the reserves.

Coach Nathan Grey said: “This is an exciting time for the squad as they prepare to open their campaign against a tough Argentinian outfit.

“They come into this tournament raring to go after two earlier camps in 2022 and will be looking to start on a strong note.

“This tournament provides a perfect chance for players to impress and test themselves against some of the best in the world.”

“This represents the start of a journey for these young men in our golden decade with many of the names we read today having the opportunity to be read out when we announce our 2027 RWC squad.

“I am excited that our next generation now have the opportunity to compete internationally again and having had the chance to see them in training over the past weeks I look forward to these next games.

“Nathan (Grey) and his management team have worked tirelessly to ensure we are in the best possible shape to take full advantage of the international competition.

Taj Annan, 13 Lukas Ripley, 14 Darby Lancaster, 15 Mac Grealy. Reserves: 16 Max Craig, 17 Paddy Tagg, 18 Siosifa Amone, 19 Mitch Watts, 20 Connor Seve, 21 Luis Werchon, 22 Jack Bowen, 23 Ben Dowling.
