Visitor Centres WA Chair Troy De Souza encourages the public to get behind their favourite holiday destination.

“We know that in the past year, many people have taken the opportunity to explore WA, re-visit destinations they haven’t been to in a while, or seek out somewhere new for their getaways,” he says.

“These Awards give us all the opportunity to reward towns for the way they treat their visitors, so it’s a great way to say thank you to the places we love to visit or have recently discovered in our travels.”

The public vote is combined with votes from an industry panel of judges to decide which destinations will receive the titles of Top Tourism Town and Small Tourism Town. The winning destinations will go into a National competition for the first time, competing against the winners from other States to be named Australia’s Top Tourism Town and Small Tourism Town.

The GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards have been running for more than 30 years and recognises cities and towns across Western Australia for their commitment to tourism and the innovative experiences and facilities on offer.

The winner in the GWN7 Top Tourism Town Award will receive a $25,000 airtime package from GWN7 to promote their town on regional television, with the winner of the GWN7 Small Tourism Town Award picking up a $10,000 airtime package.

The awards are run by Visitor Centres WA and supported by GWN7, Vanguard Press, Tourism WA and RAC Parks & Resorts. Award winners will be announced at the 2021 Perth Airport WA Regional Tourism Conference Dinner in Geraldton on May 4.
