Group worried work starts before they can meet

The Bay to Bay Action Group is concerned the site demolition for the proposed Busselton Performing Arts Centre project will begin before it can convene an “electors-style” meeting.

The City has scheduled demolition of the Queen Street site for September 11, with the meeting to be held on September 15 at Churchill Park at 6pm.

Group acting president Anne Ryan said it had taken several requests from the group for the City to offer a location for the meeting, with the City now charging BTBAG to use a City venue.

“It seems they need all the money they can get to fund the BEACH project,” she said.

“It would seem disingenuous of the City to forge ahead with the project when they are completely aware of the dilemma we have had in trying to hold an electors’ meeting with COVID-19 state of emergency regulations in place.”

The BTBAG was forced to rename its group after the City refused to let it use the name City of Busselton Action Group.
