Geraldton City Speedway celebrates 60 years with all divisions competing at anniversary meeting

The Geraldton City Speedway celebrated 60 years of the club running at the weekend with an anniversary meeting featuring all divisions.

The club, which started back in 1964, marked the milestone with a full day of racing, with competitors taking on a full day, and celebrations in the clubrooms afterwards.

The intervals were filled with kids bike races.

Rohan Thomas blitzed the competition in the production sedans division feature and was the only driver to finish a lap in under 19 seconds.

He finished with an overall time of 8min. 11sec., as Terry Champion followed behind with an eight second difference.

The most convincing win on the night was in the supermods feature when Wayne Bingham topped the competition with a time of 4:29. He pulled the only lap in the race below 18 seconds, winning with a comfortable lead over runners-up Darrall and Rex Smith.

Hailee Berry brought home a close win during the senior F125s feature, beating Julianne Beard by three seconds in the small field.

Many of the local F125s competitors were away competing in the WA State Titles in Morawa during the celebrations.

Bayley Ingleton claimed the win in the junior F125s feature, finishing the 12 laps in 4:8, winning by a thin margin, beating runner-up Jaeger Berry by just 1.950sec.

In the junior new stars feature, Brax Root won the battle of the Roots, finishing with a time of 4:13 to beat Archie Root by two seconds.
