Geraldton’s rising swimming stars prepare to take on regional rivals in Swimming WA Country Championships

Some of Geraldton’s youngest and most exciting swimming prospects will battle it out in the Swimming WA Country Championships held at the Perth HPC Centre, starting Friday. More than 43 swimmers from the Geraldton Amateur Swimming Club have qualified for the event after putting together several strong performances in previous race meets and time trials throughout 2025. From the Mid West and Gascoyne regions, Geraldton has the most entries in the three-day event, with 127 entries across more than 170 events. Carnarvon and Exmouth also have representation in the event, with 21 and 26 entries respectively. The Mid West and Gascoyne will also have separate teams in the men’s and women’s 4x50 freestyle and medley relay events. Ollie White will feature across four freestyle events after a strong showing in December’s State championships, where he secured a bronze medal, personal best and national qualifying time in the 13-years boys 200m freestyle. He also recorded personal bests and had finals appearances in the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle events. In the girls categories, Molly Evans is in fighting form following a successful State campaign, claiming silver in the 50m breaststroke and two bronze medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events, also setting personal bests. Caitlyn Naisbitt is also one to keep an eye on, after winning the Todd Hutton Memorial Trophy during last month’s Gascoyne Open for achieving the most personal bests throughout the meet.
