National Families Week is being celebrated in Gnowangerup with an Early Years Expo on Monday, a free event aimed at supporting children in the most important years of their development.
The event, which runs from 9am to 2pm at the Gnowangerup Sporting Complex, includes stalls, guest speakers and activities which include face painting, a play zone and a reading corner.
The stalls are expected to bring together a range of local services, showcasing what they can offer expectant parents and families with children aged up to four.
It is being supported by the Early Years Partnership which works with local communities to improve the wellbeing and school readiness of children across WA.
Expectant mothers, parents, carers, and families with young children are encouraged to attend. The event is open to people of all backgrounds, with a strong focus on inclusivity, connection and community wellbeing.
Event organiser Simone Klose from Down South Creative said the expo had been carefully curated to remove the pressure often associated with attending structured events.
“We wanted to create something that feels easy and welcoming; where families can come when they can, stay as long as they like, and take away whatever is most helpful for them,” she said.
“It’s about bringing everything together in one space so parents don’t have to go searching.”
