Spirits high as 93rd Waroona Show approaches with good weather and better vibes forecast

The biggest single-day agricultural show in WA is making its triumphant return this weekend. The 93rd Waroona Show opens at 8am on October 5, with the showgrounds set to be packed with stalls, sheep and spectators for the annual event. Waroona Agricultural Society president Eric Walmsley said he expected this year’s show to be one of the greats with the weather looking to support another excellent show. “The show has grown so much over the years,” he said. “When I first started with the show back in the early 90s we had around 6000 people come through. This year we’re expecting over 22,000.” Mr Walmsley said the day would be a family fun day, with free entertainment and plenty of livestock. “We do our best to keep the costs down for families to come into the show, that’s always a big thing,” he said. “We also have tried to stay a true agricultural show, with plenty of animals on show.” Mr Walmsley said he was most looking forward to seeing the redeveloped farm shed once it was fully unveiled. Farm shed organiser Nicole Entz will be offering patrons a walk through the town’s history within the shed and said it showcased agriculture from past to present. Ms Entz said many of the displays would not have been possible without the support of the Waroona Men’s Shed and other supporters. Shire of Waroona president Mike Walmsley said those who put in the effort to make the show a reality were admirable. “It’s a lovely day to celebrate this lovely time of the year,” he said. “Everything’s blooming, the grass is green, the cattle are fattening — it’s all perfect and this show is a real celebration of of this.”
