Lawyers for teen accused of fatally stabbing Universal Store founder say more time needed for ‘large’ brief of evidence

A teen accused of fatally stabbing Universal Store founder Greg Josephson during a wild house party faces another delay in his court case as his legal team go through a significant volume of material. The child, 15, was not brought before Brisbane Children’s Court on Tuesday during a brief mention of his case. Mr Josephson, 58, was found dead in his Clayfield home in Brisbane’s north just after 8pm on June 26 – allegedly while a party was occurring at the house. The teen, 15, is accused of stabbing the high-flying businessman during what police allege was an “altercation” at the home. On Tuesday, lawyer Kris Jahnke confirmed he was still going through a large volume of material in the brief of evidence and requested a further adjournment to allow for more material to be disclosed. The teen’s case will return to court on November 25. Mr Josephson co-founded the clothing chain Universal store alongside his brother in 1999, before it was sold to private equity investors in 2018. Following the sale, he amassed a significant property and retail portfolio. Some have been sold off or closed altogether since his death. At a touching funeral in July, Mr Josephson’s wife Tamra remembered her husband as the “team captain” of their family. “He was still my Gregory handsome. We had discussed how we looked forward to spending more time together just the two of us. We loved each other’s company. “He was the most gentle, soft, kind hearted, generous, calm, positive, happy, intelligent man I have ever met. He was a pure gentleman. “I loved you so much and I will love you forever.”
