A bushfire in the Shire of Boddington has been downgraded to a bushfire advice alert for residents in Bannister, Boddington and Marradong, with the blaze now contained.

The advice is in place for an area bounded by Gold Mine Road, Bannister Marradong Road, Bannister Road, Pinjarra Williams Road, Pinjarra Williams Road and Siding Road.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says there is no longer a threat to lives or homes in the area as the fire is now stationary and contained.

The fire was reported at 7.22am on Tuesday, with a watch and act alert issued just before 8.45am.

Eight brigade and volunteer firefighting crews rushed to the scene, actively fighting the fire and putting in containment lines and firebreaks.

Four of those crews left the scene at about 10.30am when the threat was downgraded, leaving others to monitor the blaze.

Three water bombers and a supervising aircraft are also at the scene to assist ground crews.

All roads remain open, but DFES has asked motorists to avoid the area if possible.
