Volunteer firefighters are battling to contain a paddock blaze in Commodine, sparking the second bushfire advice alert in the Wheatbelt on Monday morning.

The fire was reported at 9.57am near Strahans Road and Cuballing East Road between the shires of Cuballing and Wickepin.

Volunteer farming units were on the scene almost immediately, with the Cuballing, Narrogin, Minigin and Popanyinning bush fire brigades following shortly.

The 20 units controlled the flames within an hour, but are still fighting to contain the fire.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services released a bushfire advice alert at 10.47am for people in an area bounded by Leeson Road to the north, Rose Road to the east, Cuballing East Road to the south, and Strahan Road to the west in parts of Commodine and Wickepin, in the shires of Cuballing and Wickepin.

DFES says there is currently no threat to lives or homes.

The shire of Cuballing is managing the fire.

The advice was launched only 10 minutes after one for a paddock bushfire in Varley, in the Shire of Lake Grace.
