Narrogin and Districts Netball Association’s A-grade competition continues to heat up with some competitive netball played across the weekend.
Saturday afternoon saw Cuballing take on Wickepin in their first encounter for the 2026 season.
The game was fast-paced from the beginning, with Cuballing making the stronger start.
Defenders Taya Olman and Jayeisha Ford slowed the Wickepin attack and rebounded strongly, giving Cuballing a 10-goal lead after the first quarter.
Breeanna Jetta-Bolton, Chelsea Ugle, Dakoda Bolton-Black and the Slawinski sisters Mia and Asha continued to make their presence felt in the centre court for Cuballing with fast-paced attack and intense defensive pressure applied continuously throughout the game.
Wickepin continued to keep up with the speed of the young Cuballing side but were unable to convert on any gains made by defenders Helen Wyatt and Jenna Bain, who were challenged early by the accuracy of Cuballing shooters Regina Kickett and Keely Kickett.
After some positional changes late in the game, Wickepin showed signs of their potential to outscore any of their future opponents in the A-grade competition, clawing back a 17-goal margin to narrow Cuballing’s final winning margin to 62-50.
Williams dominated the young Flames team who were missing several key players, winning 69-21.
The A-grade competition also welcomed back Wagin who took on Olympics Gold in their first A-grade game for the season.
A very even game of netball saw the lead swing to either team for much of the game.
With only three goals separating the two teams at the eight-minute mark of the third quarter, it was anyone’s guess as to who would come out victors.
The Wagin defenders continued their full game pressure and ensured several quick turnovers, seeing Wagin score quickly and efficiently from that point onwards.
Olympics once again showed their tenacity to challenge any team in the A-grade competition but were unable to claw back Wagin’s lead with the final result 47-38.
The long weekend sees NDNA’s Rising Stars travel to Perth for the Fuel to Go And Play Association Championships where the area’s best and brightest work together to challenge other city and country associations.
