Waikiki gymgoer Bob Richardson has proven age is just a number, with the 86-year-old winning a fitness challenge against people a third of his age.

The Aqua Jetty health club member took part in the centre’s March “wall sit” challenge, which invited people to see how long they could hold the exercise position.

Members were able to attempt the challenge as many times as they wanted throughout the month, with efforts timed by a staff member.

Mr Richardson recorded a time of six minutes in his first attempt, which was later beaten by another member.

He tried again, lasting an unbeaten 6.32 minutes.
