A networking event with about 50 InvestWest Agribusiness Alliance attendees took place in Perth last week, sponsored and hosted by Bankwest.

IWAA was launched in August 2013 to attract investment in the State's food production sector, in keeping with its vision of being 'all together successful'.

The alliance, supported by the Department of Agriculture and Food, is a non-profit network of companies, peak industry organisations, government agencies and higher learning institutions aimed at fostering relationships to co-ordinate investment in WA.

It is supported by experienced investment facilitator Verghese Jacob, seconded from the department to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, to streamline support for investment opportunities.

Attendees heard from DAFWA director general and chair of IWAA Rob Delane, Bankwest State manager John Sgambelluri and Brian Hudson, of DAFWA, who introduced the 'Find your farm' website.

A presentation offering a snapshot of the investor's experience in WA was delivered by Mr Guo, of Heilongjiang Feng'ao Industry Development Co.

Mr Delane said the overwhelming support from companies involved with inward investment for the IWAA, including the members networking event, was an indication of the strong interest in the opportunities and challenges in agribusiness individually and collectively.

"Members would contribute over coming weeks their ideas as to what needs to be put in place using support from the State Government and other sources to have the most effective, positive impact on attraction, facilitation and successful application of new external investment into the agriculture and food sector," he said.
