Some of the world's leading authorities on food security are in Perth today to discuss the interaction between mining and agriculture.

Experts hope to identify international and national practices and policies to improve food security.

The Crawford Fund - which believes that international agricultural research holds the key to alleviating rural poverty in developing countries - is co-hosting with Paydirt Media the annual Africa Australia Research as a predecessor to the Africa Down Under conference tomorrow.

Speakers include Liberia's Agricultural Minister and a senior official from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
