It may be starting to feel like summer, but thunderstorms are set to sweep across the state and bring gusty winds and downpours to some parts of WA.

The Bureau of Meteorology outlined the upcoming forecast in a video on October 14, highlighting a low pressure trough that is set to move through WA tomorrow.

“Ahead of that trough, hot conditions, high fire danger and strong winds are building,” said Meteorologist Miriam Bradbury.

Ms Bradbury warned that West Aussies are likely to see thunderstorms developing through the afternoon, sweeping down through the interior and potentially impacting parts of the Goldfields, Pilbara and Gascoyne too.

“Thunderstorms are unlikely to bring much rain to the gauges, but we could see some gusty winds, particularly across the southern interior tomorrow,” Ms Bradbury said.

“Through the south-west of the state it will be a little more settled, just a slight chance of a shower about the south west coast.”

The forecast predicts that Perth will avoid the worst of the impact of the thunderstorms but there is showers on the horizon for the weekend, with BOM forecasting 0-5mm on Saturday and 0-4mm on Sunday.

“For Perth it will be a dry day, however partly cloudy with a top of 23 degrees,” Ms Bradbury said.
