A first-innings capitulation has left Australia needing to bat most of the last day to save the Test match, but South Africa will be fired up as they need to win to keep the series alive.
Steve Smith is still to bat after sliding down the order due to a neck concern but the Aussies still trail by 170 runs and need to pass that mark just to make the home side bat again.

Potential for 44 overs
44 is the number the Aussies will be looking at.
That’s the maximum amount of overs allowed in this session.
However, if they can get a lead of even 30 they can whittle it down.
They trail by 73 at the start of this session.
Tea
Australia have made it to the final session of the Test match.
They have four wickets in hand but Carey is the last recognised batter.
Boland has just batted the full session as a nightwatchman, six minutes short of three hours!
Amazing effort from him in this match.
Can they hang on?

Calmness returns
Boland and Carey have settled things back down and the ball looks docile again.
Australia have so much work still to do but, at the moment, they will feel half a chance.
AUS 6-249 - trail by 77
Expansive
Boland is likely the short ball.
They’ve been too wide and he is slicing away over point with some class.

Nick and over!
Boland slashes a cut shot and the top edge flies over the slips.
He moves to 32 with some luck and it is his career-high.

WHY!?!!?!?!?
Smith falls trying to pull Rabada!
It was an ordinary short ball and Smith pulls it off the toe.
It swirled in the wind and Breeztke dropped the first chance but takes it on the second.

Zip
The new ball is zipping through to the keeper but it’s not seaming or bouncing that much.
Boland looks a lot more nervous but he’s still there.

New ball
South Africa are now due a new ball.
This will be a big test for Boland who has made 21 from 111.
Smith is one from 17.
Rabada takes the fresh pill.

ANALYSIS
Australia has been left with problems all the way through their batting order after being rolled for 99 in Gqeberha, but they have at last seen Travis Head check the last box he needed as an opener.

Dropped!
Rickleton is up to the stumps and can’t take a big edge off the bat of Smith.
The Aussie star is not liking having the keeper up and it would have been a great catch had he pulled it off because it moves a long way.
