VideoAFL player Lance Collard has received a nine-match ban with two matches suspended for a homophobic slur.

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir was coy over his plans for West Coast star Harley Reid and if the Dockers will look to get under the skin of the young Eagle.

Reid has been in the spotlight this week after being singled out for his ill-discipline in their Gather Round loss to Geelong by coach Andrew McQualter, saying he had “let himself down.”

It was revealed that the No.1 draftee has reached out to AFL great Luke Hodge for advice on how to play through tags as he continues to be singled out by opposition teams.

Longmuir would not reveal whether they would send a tag to Reid, but said he was aware of how damaging he could be.

“We haven’t talked through that yet, but we need to be aware of his talents; he’s such a good player for them and a barometer for them, so we can’t let him run around and do what he wants,” he told 7News.

“It sounds like they’ll have a little help for him with Elliot Yeo coming back, possibly, so their midfield will be strengthened.”

Reid was the chief instigator in the Eagles’ stunning derby boilover in round six 2024 when he kicked three goals along with 19 disposals and five tackles.

However, Longmuir said he doesn’t believe beating the Eagles is as simple as distracting Reid.

“I don’t think so, I think he’s a very competitive young player from just what I’ve seen him do in the past,” he said.

“I think he gives as good as he gets, and he just wants to do everything he can for the team to win

“We’re aware of his strengths, and we’ll spend a lot more time focusing on them as a whole.”

The Dockers enter the derby on a four-game win streak after another thriller at Adelaide Oval, where they set a club record for the lowest winning total, scoring just 45-points.

Longmuir said he was pleased with his side’s ability to produce in the moments

“The fact we’ve been able to win in different ways across the last four weeks is what I’m most pleased with. We’ve kicked a couple of big scores, but then last week was a bit more moderate,” he said.

“It was just tight all night, but I was really proud of how we took some moments late and finished it off in the last four and a half minutes by hanging on.”
