Fremantle forward Isaiah Dudley wants to repay the faith shown by Dockers as he closes in on contract trigger

Fremantle forward Isaiah Dudley says he wants to re-pay the faith shown by the Dockers, as he closes in on a contract extension. As revealed by The West Australian on Wednesday, Dudley is on the verge of hitting a games trigger to earn a one-year contract extension that will lock him in until at least the end of the 2027 season. Speaking ahead of the club’s Gather Round clash with Collingwood on Friday night, Dudley confirmed the report, adding that he was “four or five” games away from triggering the new deal. The pressure forward has kicked 23 goals from his 20 games, including eight this season, after signing as an SSP player before the start of 2025, following in the footsteps of fellow fan favourite Patrick Voss the year before. The South Australian said it had been important for him to reward Fremantle by playing strong footy. “(Patrick) Vossy has paid the faith back to them for believing in him. And also the club taking a punt on me in the SSP window. I’m trying to pay back what is right for them,” he said. “I’m not really worried about that (contract) at the moment. I’m worried about just playing good footy, playing my role for the team and helping us to keep winning. That’s why I’ve got a good manager – to handle that.” Dudley, Shai Bolton and Michael Frederick spent the afternoon at Adelaide Oval touring the stadium’s famous old scoreboard. They were given a tour of the inside of the scoreboard and hung a Go Freo sign on it. Dudley said stepping inside the historic scoreboard had been amazing, “It’s a pretty cool experience. I’m an Adelaide boy so to witness that first hand is pretty special and pretty cool. I’ve always wanted to experience something like that,” he said.
