Ponant has teamed up with Vilebrequin on a limited-edition collection inspired by the sea, polar exploration and the cruise line’s fleet of ships.
It is the first time the French swimwear house — born on the beaches of Saint-Tropez in 1971 — has partnered with a cruise line, with the collection featuring two pairs of men’s swim shorts, along with a tote bag and an accessory pouch.
The first design, dubbed The Wave, features a repeating pattern in shades of turquoise, aqua and cobalt blue. Look a little closer and you’ll spot fine-line drawings of Ponant ships appearing between the waves.
The second design takes its inspiration from Le Commandant Charcot, Ponant’s luxury icebreaker. Named Polar Plunge, the trunks feature a white outline of the ship against deep navy fabric — a nod to the chilly ritual undertaken by brave passengers on voyages to Antarctica, the Arctic and the North Pole.
Rather appropriately, you’ll have to head to sea with Ponant to get your hands on the special collection.
The Wave shorts, tote and accessory pouch are available from boutiques across the Ponant fleet, while the Polar Plunge design is exclusive to Le Commandant Charcot.
The swim trunks are priced at €320 (about $520), the tote at €170 (about $275) and the accessory pouch at €130 (about $210).
