Outstanding WA retailers recognised

Retailers from Lake Grace to Geraldton were among those taking home gongs from the Retailer of the Year Awards presented in front of 500 people during the gala Market City Ball at Burswood last Friday.

Perth Market Authority acting chief executive Leon McIvor said the event supported by the Chamber of Fruit and Vegetables Industries WA and the Perth Market Authority acknowledged WA's finest retail stores for excellence in fresh fruit and vegetable retailing.

Participants in the awards are independently judged by mystery shoppers on quality, customer service, consumer information and shop presentation.

Chamber of Fruit and Vegetables Industries WA chief executive Martin Clark said a record 90 stores entered across eight store award categories and three produce award categories.

Best Fresh Produce Section within a National Supermarket - Regional: *Coles Margaret River

Best Fresh Produce Section within and Independent Supermarket - Regional: *Lake Grace IGA

Best Weekend Market: *Della Fresh, Fremantle

Excellence in Banana Retailing: *Woolworths Albany Bayonet Head

Excellence in Potato Retailing/ _Excellence in Apple and Pear Retailing _: *Geraldton Fruit and Vegetable Supply
