Emergency services are dealing with a chemical spill as a result of a car rollover, west of Frankland River in the Great Southern on Tuesday.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said appliances from Manjimup were sent to attend the hazardous materials incident that was reported about 2.30pm.

The incident happened on Wingebellup Road near the intersection with Unicup Road in the Shire of Cranbrook.

The driver of the vehicle, believed to be a man in his 20s, was not trapped and was not transported to hospital by St John WA, which also attended the crash.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said firefighters were assisting with the chemical spill, caused by several drums spilling on the road, but it is unclear what the chemical is.

A police spokesperson said the incident was a car rollover and although the level of injuries was unknown, they did not appear serious.

The road is not closed but traffic is down to one lane while the incident is cleaned up.
