GSFL 2025: Kleemann medallist Bailey Taylor caps stellar season with Advertiser footballer of the year gong

Kleemann medallist Bailey Taylor also collected the Albany Advertiser Footballer of the Year title after a 2025 season to remember. Taylor won the Great Southern Football League’s highest individual honour on September 1 and his stellar season in Sharks colours certainly didn’t go unnoticed. The Advertiser’s top footy award finished in a close race across the 15-round home-and-away season. Just two votes separated the top four in the award when voting when silent at the end of round 12. Taylor was one clear of last year’s winner Ryley Valli going into the last three rounds of the season and he picked up three votes in the final round to secure the honour. The Sharks star was one vote clear of teammate Isaac Baum after round 13 and then moved to 19 votes after round 14. Valli picked up two votes as well in the penultimate round of the season and three to fellow contender Darcy Wallinger left the race wide open going into the last round. Baum, Wallinger, Valli and Taylor could all still win the prize but Taylor picked up three votes for a dominant display in the Sharks loss to the Tigers. That effort handed the State Country representative his first Advertiser Football of the Year award. He polled 22 votes to edge out Valli and Wallinger on 19, Valli picking up two votes in that same game while Wallinger was best-afield in the Bulls round 15 win over North Albany. Taylor accepted the media honour from Advertiser’s advertising manager Harrison Bolton.
