A mother of five has been left in an induced coma after a horror hit-and-run tragedy on Mother’s Day.
Tania Kerr was riding an e-scooter home from a friend’s house in Melbourne when she was hit by a car about 12.20am on Sunday, May 10.
The car, a white sedan, did not stop at the scene.
Ms Kerr was seriously injured and treated by neighbours at the scene until emergency services arrived.
The 41-year-old was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital where she remains in an induced coma with critical head wounds and spinal injuries.
Ms Kerr’s partner Kayla Grech issued a message to the elusive driver who left her partner for dead.
“I’m very angry, very hurt, lost for words really,” she told the Herald Sun after spending mothers day by her partner’s bedside.
“Especially to leave someone like that on the side of the road.
“She’s an amazing person, she’s loving, caring.
“The best person you could ever ask for.”
Victoria Police are appealing for help to locate the vehicle.
Senior Sergeant Emile Caggiati described the incident as “deplorable”.
“It’s appalling really, any motorist that leaves the scene of collision where someone needs assistance, that behaviour is just deplorable.”
She added that it was important for e-scooter riders to ensure they were wearing helmets and reflective gear while travelling at night.
