A body has been retrieved from a lake in Melbourne’s north.

Police were called to Coburg Lake following reports of a body in the water about 12:30pm on Thursday afternoon.

A walker had raised the alarm when they noticed something in the water.

The area was closed off while search and rescue divers retrieved the man’s body, which was removed from the scene in a bag.

Investigators said they are currently working to identify the man and determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

Coburg Lake Reserve is a popular spot for picnics and walking, with riverside paths, BBQs and multiple playgrounds.
