Busselton 15-year-old Oscar Hunter was saved by Yallingup local Felix Leaver last Thursday after being taken out by a rip and wading in water for 45 minutes at Rabbit Hill beach.

Mr Leaver saw Oscar in the water from his house and quickly chucked on his wetsuit, grabbed his surfboard and rescued him. Oscar said if he had been in the water another five minutes he probably wouldn’t have survived.

“I was exhausted and in shock when I was rescued,” said Oscar, pictured at the beach with his mother, Rebecca. “I was pretty lucky and just want to thank Felix for his quick thinking.”
