Man, 24, charged following alleged break-in resulting in 53-year-old’s death in Newcastle

A man has been charged after he allegedly broke into a home and assaulted the resident who was found dead by emergency services.
Police were called to a unit on Darby St in Newcastle and found a 53-year old man had been assaulted about 3.20am on December 10.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he could not be saved and died.

Police allege the resident was assaulted by another man who entered the unit, but he was not arrested at the scene.

Sign upHomicide detectives searched a home in Seven Hills in Sydney’s northwest where they arrested a 24-year old man.
He was charged with aggravated entering a dwelling with intent, and using an offensive weapon in company with intent indictable offence.
The 24-year old was refused bail in the Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday.
He is due to appear before the Newcastle Local Court on February 11.
