Players from across the State descend on Manjimup Bowling Club for the annual Muir’s Invitation Fours

Players from across the State recently came to Manjimup Bowling Club for the annual Muir’s Invitation Fours. With teams from Geraldton, Narembeen, Eaton, Balingup, Bridgetown, Nannup, Albany, Busselton, Collie, Nollamarra, and Inglewood, the South West club held a grand assembly for the two days of play. The event came down to the wire in the end, with three teams still in the running to secure a win going into the last round. A team from Collie-Busselton made up of Gary Keep, Brian Gearing, Gary Rundle and Jamie Parker eventually claimed the Muir’s Invitational Fours with a score of 19 points and 55 shots. Second place, eight shots behind, went to the Manjimup-Geraldton team of Joe Cukela, Damian Lloyd, Paul Wood and Brad Criddle, with a score of 19 points and 47 shots. Third place went to a Pemberton team of Felix Ditri, Chris Vellios, Noel Hartnett and Brian Morris with a final score of 14 points and 45 shots up. Manjimup Bowling Club chairman Mike Christofis said the event was a great success, and would not have been possible without the help of the organisers and sponsors. “Many thanks go to captain Phil Hampson, the match committee, the ladies’ committee led by Karyn Kammann, who all worked hard to make this one of the most prestigious bowling events on the South West calendar,” Mr Christofis said. Mr Christofis thanked Kevin Hargrave, Trevor Martin, Robert Kammann and the greens committee for their tireless hours of work at the club. Following the success of the Muir’s Invitation Fours, the Manjimup Country Club will be conducting its annual Manjimup Mitre 10 and Retravision 2026 Doc Ryan Memorial Community Bowls.
