Warren Blackwood Cricket Association to play all in colours with one-day and T20 competition to start soon

The cricketers of the Warren Blackwood region are warmed up for the new season with the first ball to be bowled on October 18. Warren Blackwood Cricket Association president Jason Treasure said the organisation will be trying a few “new things” for the 2025-26 season. All teams have agreed to play their traditional home and away season games, as well as their T20 competition, in coloured kits. There would also be more T20 games outside of the usual two-week round robin competition, including some Thursday night games at the Collier Street sporting complex. Despite being crowned the champions five times in a row, Treasure expects Forestry Cricket Club to have some strong competition this year. “Forestry have won five 45-over competitions (including last year), but it was a very even season — there are Bridgetown and Boyup Brook who were very strong candidates and been playing some good cricket,” he said. “Pemberton and Northcliffe have very young sides and (we can) expect them to push for the premier as well. “I expect it to be a tough three-way race between Forestry, Bridgetown and Boyup Brook.” From derbies to rivalries and grand final rematches, Treasure said there were several key fixtures to keep an eye out for. “Probably the best games to watch in general would be the Thursday night T20 games at Collier as it is one of the only fields outside of Perth where night games are happening,” Treasure said. The first of two rematches of last year’s one-day grand final will see Bridgetown take on Forestry on October 25, and then again on December 20. The T20 round robin series will be played on December 6 and December 13. One-day finals will begin on February 21 and the grand final will be played on February 28. Round one will start on October 18 with Forestry to play Northcliffe, Pemberton to take on Bridgetown and Boyup Brook to play Manjimup. As for the structure of finals this season, there will be two separate ladders — one for T20s and an overall table including both the short form and one-day competitions.
