Reece Whitby gives WA officers reminder of professional requirements after reports of vile Perth party

Police Minister Reece Whitby has issued a blunt warning to WA coppers that “professionalism is expected of police officers at all times.” Responding to a report in Saturday’s The West Australian which revealed internal affairs investigators were probing two separate scandals at a city bar where police had gathered, Mr Whitby says he has confidence the matter will be properly addressed. “I’m advised that a criminal and internal investigation is underway into allegations of misconduct involving several police officers,” Mr Whitby said. “While it would be inappropriate to comment further, professionalism is expected of police officers at all times.” The staff party ended with a sexual assault and a vile act of public indecency. One junior male officer allegedly performed oral sex on another male officer. During that act he allegedly digitally penetrated the colleague he was pleasuring. In another incident, another male officer allegedly pressed his penis against the beer mugs his colleague had been drinking from. “I’m assured the matter will be appropriately addressed and the appropriate supports will be made available,” Mr Whitby said.
