Merinotech bloodlines on display

Kendall O'ConnorCountryman

The annual Merinotech ram inspection day was held at stud principal Ian Robertson's property in Kojonup last Thursday, when trends and traits in the latest Merino genetics were discussed.

Representatives from the suppliers spoke about what improvements they had seen in Merinotech bloodlines, including lower occurrences of worms, increased post weaning weight and clean fleece at an improved weight.

Mr Robertson, who supplied about 60 rams on the day, said the standard of rams being sold had increased.

"The level between standards is much closer," he said.

Mr Robertson said there was a need to look at the genetic traits of Merinos.
