York Heritage Weekend is on track for four big days in the inland town, from April 24 to 27.

It is the fifth York Heritage Weekend, and coincides with National Trust Heritage month all over Australia.

The event has been taken over by an independent group of volunteer locals who are keen on preserving and maintaining the important heritage of York and the surrounding district. There’s a wide variety of activities and music.

York Heritage Weekend spokesperson Karen Thomas says: “With the current cost-of-living issues, I think we have the benefit of being a mainly free, family friendly, minimal-petrol-use event.

“York also has RV facilities with one night at no charge, and we do have a caravan park.”
