Disability housing provider Habilitas opens KPA Architects-designed robust ‘forever’ homes in Armadale

More new housing for people living with disability has opened in Perth’s southern suburbs.
Disability housing provider Habilitas has worked with KPA Architects to provide the latest development in Armadale to support neurodiverse people living with disability such as autism.
It is South Perth-based Habilitas’ third specialist disability accommodation development in WA after KPA Architects-designed developments in Geraldton and Gosnells.
It comprises three two-bedroom villas, housing three NDIS participants and three onsite overnight assistants.

The villas are constructed with polycarbonate windows and plywood to minimise potential harm.
Habilitas director Todd Paterson said the company’s mission was to create a ‘forever home’ for people with disability.
“In this case (it is) neurodiverse people who require robust homes,” he said.
“Our Armadale development will provide them a home of their own where they can live independently for the long term.”

Each villa features ensuites for every bedroom. The open-plan dining and living area opens out to private gardens and veranda.
The gardens are sensory adapted to promote a sense of calm.
Hues of blue, purple and white flowers amongst the textures of green foliage and turf aim to invite gentle interaction that does not overwhelm.
