ADCA 2025-26: Manypeaks go top of the ladder as Berridge’s swinging 61 provides the buffer against plucky Park

Manypeaks went top of the Albany and Districts Cricket Association A-grade ladder after a 15-run win over Collingwood Park who, once again, were just edged out of a competitive contest on Saturday. Set a target of 246 to win, Park were agonisingly close in reaching 230 but key wickets lost in the middle order left the tail with too much to do and Peaks held them off to earn the win and a seat at the head of the table. Park put Peaks in, but Tom Leaver and Seb Stanton made a confident start and although there were some dicey moments — like a big lbw appeal against Stanton — they romped to 86 with some nice drives and even a reverse sweep from Leaver before Stanton was caught behind by wicketkeeper Oli Clark for 34. Leaver kept up the momentum and made his half-century but was bowled by Max Osborne — who had also accounted for Stanton — for 54. Osborne’s third victim was Regan Poett, who was caught by Leroy van den Dool on the boundary for 11, but there was no dislodging import Alby Berridge, whose top score of 61 off 69 balls kept the rate ticking over. Kane Pinney added 34 before he was caught by Buddy Robinson off Jaymon Spaanderman, but it was slim pickings elsewhere. Berridge was the last to go, bowled by Dylan Belward, with two balls of the 50 overs remaining and the scoreboard reading 6-245. Park used nine bowlers but only Osborne made a real impact, removing the Peaks’ top three in figures of 3-28 from five overs. In reply, Park looked to be in fine fettle as O’Shea Durack made 82 from 106 balls, with two sixes the highlights. He had help too, as Belward (17) and Clark (23) were next before Buddy Robinson, the previous week’s century man, made 37 before he was seen off, caught by Berridge off a Liam Davies delivery. However, Durack lost van den Dool lbw to Poett for one and Dash Germinario, who was run out for a duck by Jeremy Stewart. So, although Byron Spaanderman kept the dream alive with 27 and Regan Christensen made 18, Park were running out of wickets. Byron Spaanderman and Christensen were both caught off the bowling of Stewart, while Stanton ran out Jaymon Spaanderman for five. Jackson Davidson was the last man out, lbw to Paul Donaldson for a first-ball duck, leaving Ben Grey isolated but unbeaten on six with almost five overs remaining. The Peaks bowlers shared the workload and the wickets with two apiece going to Stewart (2-52), Oliver Douglas (2-42) and Paul Donaldson (2-17).
