Women named Glenda were in no short supply last weekend, as ladies bearing the endangered name flocked to Albany for their annual event.

Motel Le Grande played host to at least 26 Glendas on Saturday, marking the 19th iteration of the infamous Glenda Gaggle.

Founding member of the gaggle, Glenda Gaspari said the women enjoyed a “terrific” weekend of catching up.

“We always have a brilliant time and it is so lovely to have many new friendships form from these gatherings over the years,” she said.

“It is just so nice to see all the Glendas walk into the room and the gaggling begins instantly.

“One day, we may have to hire out the (Albany) Entertainment Centre because our gatherings will become too big”.

Over the past 19 years, Glendas have travelled from all over WA for the annual gathering, with some coming from as far afield as New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and New Zealand.

Though this year’s gaggle contained only Glendas from as far as Perth, Mandurah and surrounding areas, Mrs Gaspari predicts next year’s 20th anniversary will attract attendees from across the world.

“On The Glenda GAGGLE Facebook page, there are over 450 Glendas from all around Australia and the world,” she said.

“Many plan to make it back for this special 20th reunion.”

She said she has already begun planning the 2026 gaggle.

“A room full of Glendas — how can it be anything but a fun evening,” she said.
