Mt Barker crash: Man and woman in their 60s taken to hospital after ute crashes into office in town centre

Two people have been taken to hospital after the ute they were in crashed into a commercial office building near an intersection in Mt Barker town centre. Emergency services were called to the Elders real estate building on Lowood and Langton Road roundabout at about 12.42pm on Thursday to assist the occupants of the car, a man and woman both in their 60s. A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson confirmed that one person was extracted from the vehicle by 1.30pm. Four crews from Albany and Mt Barker fire brigades were sent to the scene, which was cordoned off with police tape. A police spokesperson said there was at least one passenger in the car with a driver. The building’s single occupant was safe and outside, according to a St John WA spokesperson. The woman is being taken to Albany Health Campus with what is believed to be a non-serious head injury and the man was taken to Plantagenet District Hospital. Western Power were on the site by 1.16pm and were working to make the area safe again.
