Bondi stabbing: Waitress speaks out about moment she served Joel Cauchi hours before violent attacks

A worker has told of the moment she served Joel Cauchi his last meal just hours before he went on a stabbing rampage through the Bondi Junction shopping centre.

Saigon Noodle worker Rogate Sianipar said the 40-year-old came into the store on Oxford Street about 10am on Saturday and ordered a red curry chicken.

Ms Sianipar told the Sydney Morning Herald that he was quiet and fidgety and said, “Yes, that’s fine” when asked if he wanted the blinds pulled to shield him from the sun.

She said he did not finish his meal and when it came time to pay, a “confused looking” Cauchi “looked through his wallet and seemed confused that there was no money”.

He returned later to pay for his curry just three hours before he killed six people and injured others — including a nine-month-old baby — during a stabbing rampage.

“When I found out I had served this man who killed all these people, I was so scared,” Ms Sianipar said.

“I couldn’t believe it. He looked around a bit, but otherwise he acted normally.”

The half-eaten curry was Cauchi’s last meal with the attack only ending when he was shot by lone police officer Amy Scott.
