A pediatrician accused of sexually assaulting 10 children has faced court after being hit with new charges related to nine alleged victims.

Chia Liang Saw appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, facing 31 fresh charges, including sexually penetrating a child.

The 41-year-old was not required to enter a plea and was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court later in the month.

Saw's lawyer Alex Smith said he would apply for bail when he reappeared.

The doctor, whose medical registration has been suspended, was charged in late May with persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16 and possessing child exploitation material.

The new charges include seven counts each of indecent dealing with a child under 13 years and producing child exploitation material.

Saw also faces six counts of indecent dealings with a child over 13 years and under 16 years, nine counts of indecently recording children and one of intent to procure a person believed to be under 16 years for sexual activity.

The alleged offending took place between November 2022 and May 2026 in the Perth suburbs of Wembley, Nedlands and Midland.

The child exploitation material Saw allegedly possessed was a photo of schoolgirls sitting on the ground with their underwear showing, the court heard.

Some of the offences allegedly happened at Saw's place of work in a hospital.

A hidden camera in a Perth examination room captured Saw's alleged offending, the court has previously heard.

Saw, a developmental pediatrician, specialised in behavioural issues affecting children and operated from various locations in Perth, police previously said.

Saw will next face court on June 30.
