Kojonup and Dumbleyung both claimed important wins in round eight of the Katanning Netball Association A-grade competition on Saturday, as competition heats up in the second half of the season.

Dumbleyung claimed their second win for the season against Cardinals Force in a hard fought game.

Dumbleyung shooters Claire Goater and Te Rine Pardoe worked hard in the opening quarter, shooting well to give Dumbleyung a six-goal lead by the first change.

Cardinals worked hard to keep pace, but a stellar third term from Dumbleyung put them nine goals ahead with only one quarter left to play, and they held their advantage through the last to finish seven goals ahead, with final scores 38-31.

Kojonup won convincingly against Olympians, adding another win to an already strong season in which they have only suffered one defeat so far this season, a round four loss to Allstars who they will face again in round nine.

Olympians’ Jayde Wolfe netted the first goal of the game, but Kojonup guickly snatched back control, finishing with a four-goal lead at the first change.

Olympians played hard in the second term to stay competitive, but Kojonup were leading by 15 goals at halftime, giving Olympians plenty of work to do in the second half.

Bella Narkle and Bella Schloithe worked hard in the circle for Olympians and took all the opportunities that came their way to convert to goals, but Kojonup kept the pressure on at both ends and were still ahead by 15 with a quarter left to play.

However, Kojonup showed their class in the last, finishing 20 goals up with final scores at 58-38.

In the A-reserves, Allstars and Kojonup finished with a draw on 34 goals all, while Olympians defeated Broomehill 43-33.

Kojonup and Dumbleyung walked off winners in the B-grade, defeating Olympians and Cardinals Fever, respectively.

Allstars claimed a 30-goal win over Cardinals Phoenix in the C-grade, while Kia Ora were forced to forfeit their match, handing Olympians the win by default.
