Aussie fans of pop star Ed Sheeran have united to urge the megastar to sample one of Australia’s iconic snacks on his Down Under tour. After performing some of his hit songs on stage at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane last week, the ginger jammer popped on the iconic straw Bunnings hat to his audience’s screaming delight. “Apparently, when I get to Melbourne, I have to get the sausage sizzle,” Sheeran said, guitar in hand, before he continued his show with the straw hat still in place. The comment section on a TikTok video of the night went wild with fans tagging Bunnings and Sheeran. One user wrote “make this happen!!”’ in response. More suggested their own local Bunnings for his next surprise stop, with another user writing “Melbourne can’t wait.” Among those eager for the British pop sensation to sample a piece of pure Aussie culture is not-for-profit cat and dog rescue organisation, Sally’s Cat and Kitten Rescue in Altona. The rescue, which has helped over 1,500 pets find their forever homes over 16 years in the surrounding suburbs of Altona North, will be hosting a barbecue rallying for a visit from the known “cat dad” star at Altona Bunnings on Saturday. Some fans were particularly hopeful after Sheeran unexpectedly stopped by the Queensland town of Ipswich, sharing the name of the stars home town in Britain, after the townspeople campaigned for nearly a year for him to drop by. 9 News reported the town featured a massive mural dedicated to Sheeran that featured the star’s profile beside the town’s name of Ipswich. They also named a beer after him in the local pub called a ‘Beer-an’, and draped the pop star in mayoral chains, crowning him Mayor of Australia’s Ipswich. The British star is set to perform live at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium this week as part of his Loop tour, the singer’s sixth concert tour around Australia and New Zealand that celebrates his eighth studio album, Play.
