Man accused of stealing car with kids inside to spend another 20 days in custody until bail is considered

A 21-year-old man accused of stealing a car with two young children inside it last month will remain in custody until he can supply a suitable address he can reside in if granted bail. Tenessee Jack Boddington appeared via video link in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Wednesday while in custody, charged with two counts of deprivation of liberty and one count of stealing a motor vehicle. Police this month said the vehicle was take from outside a residence in Boulder about 9.55pm on July 31, with two children aged 21 months and 11 months in the backseat. Police said officers found the car about 10.50pm abandoned at the intersection of Ivanhoe and Piesse streets with the children still inside unharmed but “visibly shaken”. On Wednesday, Magistrate Paul Lyons said he could not determine bail for Mr Boddington yet as there were “issues” with the accused’s mother’s address which he had planned to reside at if bail was granted. Mr Lyons ordered defence lawyer Leneva Polmear to work with her client in the next two weeks to arrange a new suitable place of residence if bail was to be considered. The magistrate told Mr Boddington that even when the new address was confirmed, bail would not be guaranteed. Mr Boddington’s next court appearance is on September 9.
