Kwinana could become the latest home for the Last Slice sports bar franchise.

Last Slice has bars in Midland, Bunbury and Dalyellup, and is now seeking a tavern licence so it can open in Kwinana Marketplace.

Its application said it would deliver a “distinctive, innovative and community-focused” food-and-beverage offering centred around its pizza concept.

The brand’s signature dish is “authentic” hand-tossed New York-style pizza, which it says is tailored to WA tastes in both 15-inch and 22-inch formats.

Features of the Kwinana venue would include a sports lounge, children’s corner, alfresco dining, electronic darts and social gaming.

In 2022 and 2024, Last Slice received the AHA WA sporting entertainment venue award. It also received the best redeveloped venue award in 2024.

“These achievements demonstrate the group’s ongoing commitment to operational quality, responsible service of alcohol and consumer-focused hospitality outcomes, qualities that the applicant intends to replicate at Last Slice Kwinana,” the application said.

“Last Slice Kwinana will function not only as a convenient dining choice for local residents but also as a modern entertainment destination within the Kwinana city centre, attracting workers, shoppers and visitors to the Marketplace precinct.

“By establishing a vibrant, family-friendly venue that combines substantial dining options with responsible beverage service, the proposed premises will strengthen the appeal of the Kwinana city centre as a destination.

“The operation of the proposed premises will support employment, expand local dining and sports entertainment options, activate the evening economy, and enhance the amenity of the Kwinana town centre.”

It would have “comprehensive” CCTV coverage, as well as harm minimisation and noise management plans.

Jackets or any other clothing or accessory, or any clearly visible body marking, bearing patches or insignia of any outlaw motorcycle gangs will not be allowed.

The application included details about the history of New York-style pizzas, which it said would be available in classic New York, Aussie favourites, and vegetarian options.

Sides would include chicken wings, house-made dipping sauces, a pear-rocket-walnut salad, and a gluten-free brownie dessert.

Beverages would include WA wine, beer, cider and spirit, as well as zero per cent alcohol and soft drinks such as Dr Pepper.

A community survey received 90 responses, 95 per cent of which supported the application.

Public comments on the application close on June 29.
