AFL Watch: Jack Williams, Tom Cole, Rhett Bazzo impressive in West Coast’s comeback WAFL win over West Perth

A pair of West Coast’s fringe key position players shone as they stunned West Perth to claim a 15-point win in the WAFL on Sunday, while an out-of-favour veteran also impressed. Here’s how all 12 AFL-listed Eagles performed. Harry Barnett: 50th career WAFL game was one of his best at the level. Relished the No.1 ruck role in a 28 hit-out, 10-disposal, one-goal showing. Rhett Bazzo: Stood tall when the game was there to be won. Looks very comfortable when his side are able to free him up to play as an interceptor. Malakai Champion: Responded to his AFL omission with a solid performance, kicking two goals while working up the ground to win 16 disposals. Tom Cole: Continues to be overlooked for AFL selection, but the role he is playing in mentoring some younger Eagles on-field looks very valuable. Tyrell Dewar: Not as prolific as he was in his first game of the season, but had some nice moments on the wing. Lucca Grego: Diligent in his defensive work and slightly more risk-averse in his ball use, which added up to a good showing. Tom Gross: Not hugely prolific in the contest but kicked the game’s most important goal to give the Eagles a late lead they did not surrender. Clay Hall: Was not his day, struggling to get his hands on the ball and giving away an ill-disciplined 50-metre penalty which resulted in a goal. Harvey Johnston: Making a decent fist of a tough role as a high half-forward which features plenty of unrewarded running. Managed to hit the scoreboard for the second week running. Finlay Macrae: Far from his side’s worst, but will need to find ways to have more influence in order to press his claims for an AFL call-up. Jack Williams: Struggled for influence in the first two-and-a-half quarters before coming to life late, slotting four goals from then to help his side claim a remarkable win. Tylah Williams: Played the attacking connector role to good effect while also kicking a goal himself.
