One of footy’s most famous families and they now lay claim to one footy’s most famous traditions.

Fremantle star Andrew Brayshaw, his brother and Melbourne gun Angus and a host of other family members have gathered for their annual hundred-hundreds — where they run a 100m sprint 100 times on Christmas morning.

This year — the 10th anniversary of the Brayshaw Christmas tradition — they joined the Port Fairy Seagulls to do the run at their home ground in the coastal town.

Andrew has travelled home for Christmas, as has Sandover medallist and The West Australian columnist Hamish, whoever he was struck down with injury and boxed instead with a moonboot on.

“The thought process at the time was: To get the jump on the competition, let’s do the hardest session possible on the day when nobody else is doing anything. And who is doing anything on Christmas?,” Hamish wrote this week.

“Over the years, the number of people doing this on Christmas morning has grown almost exponentially. It’s crossed state lines and has even been done internationally (Vietnam Christmas 2017).”

Hamish is set to play at East Perth again this year after the club returned to finals and he won the Sandover, while Andrew has been reappointed as Fremantle’s vice-captain.
